"ARE YOU A HERO?"
ON THE COMMON
Who would ever believe a Hero might need rescuing? Yet that seems to be the case. Think of what you imagine when we talk of a hero.
SUPERMAN!! Able to leap tall buildings ... strong, perfect, invulnerable. Nothing stops him except Kryptonite ... or Lois Lane.
His close relative is the Self Help Superman. Books, Workshops, Lectures, Retreats that follow one another with dizzying speed. Life is nothing but effort. I must eternally strive to conquer all my difficulties.
The VILLAGE OF BROTHERS will gather once again this Fall, this time to rescue the Hero.
We will offer a series of personal experiences, centered on Saturday evening's Spirit Dance, to examine the sources of genuine personal strength. We will seek to better understand the nature of life's journey. What are we here to do?
If endless Striving, Guilt, Confusion, Self Torture, Punishment aren't really the heroic path, what is? If assuming everyone else's burdens as well as my own isn't the hero's job, what is?
Every man who attends will be invited to discover the look of his own personal Hero ... what his own Hero's Journey might look like.
What are the real questions I'm dealing with? How might I go about dealing with them in a way that best serves me and the men and women around me? Can I have hope as well as despair ... joy as well as pain?
To know the real hero better than we do, the Village must have wisdom and gathered experience from many Brothers, young and old. Each man present benefits from the gifts bestowed by all the others. Please join us and join the beauty, wisdom, and power of your hero to the life journey of all your brothers.
