Sometimes our fathers were too close. Sometimes they were too far away even in the same room. Sometimes our mothers so filled the picture, we could hardly see our fathers, even if we tried. However it was, as adult sons it is now often very difficult to realize the messages our father's body held for us and how deeply and thoroughly we read them.

On The Common Ground's Second Annual Retreat will bring us together in a quiet wilderness setting. In a safe community of brothers, we will participate in talk, silence, exercises, play, movement, and meditation that will help us become conscious of what we feel individually and together. There will be ample time for individual experience and expression.

We will strive to realize what actual messages spoke in our own father's body We will cooperate to help each of us attending experience what we if therefore really feel about our own body. How do we feel about our own health?...use of food?...our own goodness?... Our own sensuality and sexuality?...Our own right to feel what we feel?...all our feelings? as a consequence of what our fathers showed us.

Ultimately, the question we face is how do we relate to ourselves, to others whose bodies are "just like" ours, or to those we love, as a consequence of these messages buried deep within.

We believe we do not face a more important area for us to explore as men than this body that is the home and source of everything we feel and do. We invite you to join us for the adventure.
